Description

This Whitman Classic Album for Crossing the Delaware and American Women Quarters, P&D for 2021-2025 dated Philadelphia and Denver mint coins (Whitman model number 4949) consists of a dark blue leatherette binder with blue loose-leaf hinged pages. Both the binder and pages are gold stamped. The pages are held in the binder with two posts that screw apart so that pages can be added, removed and replaced with ease and have thumb notches for easy window removal. The album has a data sheet with mintages and other historical information.

In 2021, the U.S. Mint began minting and issuing quarters with a reverse design depicting General George Washington crossing the Delaware River prior to the Battle of Trenton during the American Revolutionary War. On December 25, 1776, General George Washington, along with 2,400 troops and artillery, began his historic crossing of the Delaware River in preparation for a surprise attack on British and Hessian soldiers.  The obverse of these quarters reverted to renowned designer John Flanagan’s design featuring President Washington that appeared on the coin before the 50 State Quarters Program.
The reverse depicts General George Washington commanding his troops through the overnight crossing of the ice-choked Delaware River prior to the Battle of Trenton during the American Revolutionary War.

The American Women Quarters Program covers the years 2022 to 2025. The obverse shows a right-facing portrait of George Washington originally sculpted by Laura Gardin Fraser for (but not used on) the 1932 quarter.  The Fraser design was on the 1999 George Washington $5 gold commemorative coin. The reverse features five designs each year honoring American women and their contributions.
